Founder's 70th Birthday
April 13th 2010 was a very special day for our Founder and Life President, Mavis Smith, as she celebrated her 70th birthday on this day. Mavis invited everybody in Port Elizabeth to her birthday party, providing they brought along a donation to Save-a-Pet. Well a lot of people turned up at her party, held at The Elephant Walk Restaurant, Colleen Glen and the princely sum of R12 010.00 was donated to Save-a-Pet along with a large amount of dog food and some lovely blankets.
Tea, coffee and cakes were the order of the day and a good time was had by all, especially by Mavis, who met up with some old friends she hadn't seen for years. Well known local musician and singer, Ken J Larkin, was there to liven up the party with his own brand of comedy and sing-a-long music, much to the delight of a receptive audience.
Mavis wishes to thank everyone who attended the party along with the people who donated but were unable to attend on the day. "We'll do this again on my 80th" was her parting shot.
