A Sad Loss

I would like to begin on a sad note regarding the death of an animal lover and friend of many at Save-a-Pet. Sharon Ayes passed away on 9th December 2011. Never scared to enter the townships and advise the residents on the best way to look after theiir pets, she also put a lot of effort to get the donkies of Walmer Township a more comfortable life. She made protective covers for any parts of the bridles or donkey carts that rubbed the donkeys and created sores. She even wrote a book about her donkies and her donkey work. We will miss you Sharon and so will all the animals that need your help. At her funeral a story was told that for one dog in a poor household, she bought and planted a tree in the owners garden for the dog to have some shade. That was Sharon Ayres! R.I.P.

Christmas / New Year

As we were unable to post a greeting on the website, I trust you all had a very nice Christmas and for those who celebrated New Year, I hope you are feeling better by now!! Let's hope 2012 will be a good one for Save-a-Pet, it's animals, staff, workfoce, members and sponsors.

We had a major change to our kennel management over this period with Jeanne Vorsatz moving to Animal Welfare in Port Elizabeth having joined us in March 2011. We wish her well in her new appointment. We welcome Natalie Dil, well known at Elephant Walk Restaurant, a great animal lover and very knowledgeable. We are delighted to have enticed her into our world, no elephants, just 200 dogs and a few cats. Natalie is so happy to be selected for the position. "Its a job I have always wanted" she said on hearing the news of her appointment. Welcome to Save-a-Pet!
